Sustainable tourism is a mode of travelling that has the least negative impact on the places visited, and preferably has a positive impact on society.

What is the aim of sustainable tourism?

The aim of sustainable tourism is not to decrease revenue and reduce the negative impact of tourism on destinations. This can be achieved in the following ways: protect the natural environment, wildlife and natural resources when developing and managing tourism activities.

  • solidarity and responsible tourism

Based on Oskar Schwazer’s (APT Garda Trentino Dolomiti) opinion quality is much more important than quantity in terms of tourism. He suggested to keep the prices higher with the aim of selecting the valuable guests for the specific touristic location. In this way the massive tourism could be avoidable. He said companies should intend less amount of money for advertising and more for developing the product management.

Can tourism be completely sustainable?


Tourism will never be completely sustainable, because every industry will have an impact, but it can work towards a more sustainable direction.
