Trento siteseeing

On Tuesday morning we ventured out on a great day trip to the historic town of Trento that is the regional capital of Trentino-Alto Adige.

Due to the situation given, we were not able to get into the Science Museum (also known as MUSE), thus we only had one option left – to discover the wonders and sites of the city.

First, we started a ten minute walk into the heart of the Old Town, reaching the main square, called Piazza Duomo, since the most visited attraction here is the Dome building. This cathedral – dedicated to St. Virgilio – was built in the 4th century and it is a great testament to the tremendous architecture that is present in Italy. From the temple we could clearly see the superb scenery that is provided by the mountain range surrounding Trento. After admiring the square, we decided to part our ways and splitted into separate groups.

Group 1 initially stayed in the town centre to sketch down some of the admirable houses with the typical Italian windows. Following the artwork, they lost themselves in the narrow roads. Wandering around the beautiful olden city, they thought it would be a crime not to take home some traditional keepsakes. Of course, thinking about Italy, what comes to mind first is coffee – so naturally they stepped into Bialetti shop… and eventually, as they got hungry, they sought for a little bakery.

Group 2 however went on an extensive trip to bookstores to supply themselves with enough books for the way home. Later on, they reunited with some of the teachers to have lunch together in a rustic trattoria – on the menu they had some bruschetta, pizza, tagliatelle and frutti di mare. Finally, before heading back to the bus, they stopped for a break at a confectionery in order to get some macaron.

At the end of the trip, the team had a break at a picturesque lake (Lake Toblino) to shoot some photos.
